Job's started and so far so good. This week has been a series of training lectures, videos and short assignments. So all in all it's very easy so far but not super exciting. I've done very little so far that has to do with what I'm actually going to be doing there. I guess they want us to learn about the real estate business and some of the accounting behind it before we really dive into code. Only today I started watching training videos about how Visual Studio works.
On that note, I can't believe how many training videos there are on this website. My training schedule says it expects me to finish the first round by the end of the month. "Wow, I have a lot of time to do this. It can't possibly take that long." But each video is at least 30 minutes and each segment has about 8 videos. I didn't count but there were a lot of segments. The end of the month was not an outrageous deadline.
The people there seem pretty alright. I've been hanging around with a guy who started the same day as me and is on me team. He's incredibly quiet though and it's hard to figure what he's saying sometimes. It doesn't help he has a slight Indian accent. Product Development has been doing training with the new Sales guys and it's kinda funny to see all these reserved techies hanging out with the boisterous sales dudes.
When meeting we went around the circle and did the whole say your name and something about you thing. The girl to the right of me timidly said "I'm Elizabeth, and I'm a deuce-aholic." The circle went quiet for a second as we all reflected on this statement.
